Family Beach Must-Haves: A Guide for Your Next Getaway

Family Beach Must Haves

Summer is just around the corner and it’s time to start planning for those fun-filled beach trips with your loved ones. Whether you’re heading to the shore for the day or planning a full-fledged beach vacation, it’s important to have the right essentials to make your time there as enjoyable as possible. After our trip to Hawaii last fall, we’ve established a beach must haves list that we will use going forward. Here are some of the beach must-have items you should bring on your next vacation with the family.

BEACH MUST HAVES

Sun protection: This is the most important item on the list. Too many times, I’ve gotten sunburnt and it’s not fun at at all. We always pick up the 3 pack spray Coppertone sunscreen from Costco along with something for the children specifically made for their skin. We use Coppertone Kids SPF 50 Trio Pack also from Costco. It’s also good to bring hats and UV-protected clothing to keep you and your family protected from the sun’s harmful rays.

Beach towels: A good beach towel is a must for drying off after a swim and for lounging on the sand. Make sure to bring enough towels for everyone in your family, as well as some extra ones for laying on or for impromptu beach games. Luckily, all the hotels we’ve stayed at have provided towels saving space in our suitcase.

Beach chairs and umbrellas: These are great for relaxing in the shade and staying cool. Make sure to choose a sturdy, lightweight beach chair that is easy to carry, and a beach umbrella that is easy to set up and provides ample shade. Renting can be super expensive especially right at the beach. We’ve seen prices upwards of $100 USD/day. What we do instead is purchase two beach chairs and an umbrella from Walmart and take that to the beach with us everyday. This saves money and is more practical. On our last day, we find another family and gift it to them.

Beach toys and games: Beach toys are a great way to keep kids entertained and active. Again, we purchased sand pails/shovels, beach balls all from Walmart or Target to avoid packing them in our suitcase.

Other items to consider are a water proof speaker, first aid kit and tent. We took this Night Cat Portable Beach tent and set it up once so not sure if it’s a must have but worth mentioning. For some other Baby Travelling Must Haves, check out this post.

In conclusion, these are just some of the beach must-have items you should bring along on your next beach vacation. With these essentials, you’re sure to have a safe, enjoyable, and memorable experience at the beach!
