EDO JAPAN FRESH TAKE….

As a Canadian blogger, supporting local initiatives is important to me. I had the wonderful opportunity of visiting the new EDO JAPAN FRESH TAKE concept store on Saturday in Shawnessy; a Calgary based business.  We’ve all heard of EDO Japan but what is this new Fresh Take concept? The Fresh Take concept includes a revitalized store design and layout, refreshed branding, a grab and go market wall with sushi, salads and Japanese inspired snacks and treats along with the on-trend menu evolution including ice infused beverages.

Let’s get right to it!

FOOD

When I first heard about the FRESH TAKE concept – I thought what would happen to the popular dishes like Edo’s Teriyaki Chicken and Sukiyaki beef? No need to panic – these dishes will remain on the menu while new dishes such as the Noodlefull and Chop Chop bowls will be added to the menu. I’m a huge fan of the pick your own bowl and that’s what I tried at the FRESH TAKE launch event. I ordered the Noodlefull bowl which is made with veggies, ramen- style noodles, a choice of chicken, beef, shrimp or more veggies and EDO’s signature Teriyaki sauce. My bowl was absolutely delicious. Each bite was packed with flavour, chicken and veggies. All I can say is that you must try this bowl!

The Chop Chop bowl looked delicious as well made with grilled chicken, beef or crispy tempura shrimp on top of rice, raw veggies and the savory bulgogi sauce. Will try this next time!

There were so many great snacks to choose from at the Grab and Go wall. I’m not a huge fan of Pocky sticks but the Cookies & Cream flavour was amazing. I tried a sample and purchased the entire box!

SERVICE

I have nothing but positive things to say about the service at Edo Japan today. With the grand opening event, the line to order was fairly long but it was all so well-organized. I don’t think I waited more than 5-7 minutes from ordering my food to receiving it.  The staff were so inviting and it was a great experience. There is also a mobile – order pick up line which is great for those takeout nights!

DÉCOR

The FRESH TAKE concept store has a great casual /minimal vibe to it. It’s perfect for the millennial demographic trendy and modern but also appealing to its current range of customers. The Grab and Go wall does not interfere with the store’s design and provides a great focal point.

FINAL THOUGHTS

With so many restaurants moving towards a healthier alternative, I would add the EDO JAPAN FRESH TAKE concept store to my list of trusted take-out places. I would love to hear your thoughts once you visit the store and/or try one of their great menu items. I am giving a $25 Edo Japan gift card to one lucky reader. Be sure to enter the draw on my Instagram.

Thanks for reading my post today!
