The holiday season is upon us and the countdown has begun. With the temperamental weather in Calgary, it’s sometimes hard to venture out in the cold and challenging driving conditions. This year Lincoln Canada has made my busy holiday season stress-free with their Lincoln Nautilus.

The 2019 Lincoln Nautilus is Distinctive by Design providing top notch performance, elegant comfort and peace of mind safety, all bundled in a luxurious package!  Some of the features that caught my attention while driving the vehicle around this week were the lane centering assists and park assists, adaptive steering and the 360 camera.

HUMP DAY IN THE CANADIAN ROCKIES

The last couple of weekends have been busy with holiday parties and entertaining so this quick mid-week getaway to the Canadian Rockies was a welcome treat.  The majestic Canadian Rockies are less than 1.5 hours away from Calgary but winter driving conditions can make this trip intimidating. The Lincoln Nautilus kept me safe on my highway drive to Banff.  On my drive, I was able to test out some of those amazing features mentioned above and more. The adaptive cruise control in the Lincoln Nautilus does much more than keep the vehicle travelling at a set speed. The stop-and-go combines camera and radar so the vehicle could sense and adjust to the pace of the car in front of me as well this functionality allowed the vehicle to come to a complete stop and restart when the traffic began to move.  

For long drives, it’s important to have that steering wheel comfort. The Nautilus has adaptive steering which adjusts how much the vehicle responds to the driver’s steering input. There is a setting for all types of experiences from Normal to Comfort and lastly Sports mode. I tried all three on my drive to Banff.

Last but not least, the AWD in the Lincoln Nautilus was superb. Intelligent AWD uses sensors to constantly monitor traction which delivers torque to the front and rear wheels to enhance handling and maximize grip. In order to see the spectacular views of Banff, I had to drive through some rough terrain and it was no concern at all. I felt completely safe and in control of the Nautilus.  

My hump day in the Rockies was the perfect break to the holiday madness. I spent the day exploring Banff and later visited the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel for a relaxing spa treatment.

The drive home was a continuation of my spa treatment with the ultra-comfort air cushioned massaging seats and the ambient lighting in the Nautilus. Not to mention, the full LED multi-projector headlamps came in quite handy with the foggy drive home.

HOLIDAY MARKET SHOPPING

After a relaxing mid-week getaway, I was ready to cross off those last few gifts on my list. My friend and fellow blogger Nike, @nikemibynikes, and I decided to visit the cSpace Farmers and Makers market over the weekend.

 

City driving can be very demanding and the Nautilus responds well to those demands. The front 180 degree spilt view camera helps boost visibility in cross-traffic situations and intersections. The Auto Hold offers relief while waiting at stop signs, long traffic signals or for the C-Train to cross. I never realized the wait time was so long!  

Parking is always a nightmare during the holidays. At first, I decided to trust my parallel parking skills but after a couple of unsuccessful attempts, a push of a button and I was parked with the Park Assist. The autofold power sideview mirrors folded in once I parked, which helped protect them from nicks, dings and scrapes. Exiting the parking spot was a breeze with the 360 degree camera in the Lincoln Nautilus which allowed me to have a bird’s eye view around the vehicle. I was able to see corners and down the street with ease. All of these features, allowed me to spend more time doing what I love – SHOP.

The hands-free power liftgate was perfect to place all my shopping/gifts into the cargo area. No fumbling in my purse for the key or having to put my gifts on the snow and risk getting them ruined. All I did was kick my foot under the rear bumper and voilà  – the door was open.

My busy holiday season was made relaxing with the excellent features of the 2019 Lincoln Nautilus. The Nautilus expertly combines elegance, performance, comfort and safety, whether you are escaping to the mountains or navigating the busy streets of Calgary!
