A few weeks ago, hubby and I escaped to Banff for the weekend. For those of you that don’t know, Banff is a resort town in the province of Alberta and is located in Banff National Park. It’s about an hour and half away from Calgary. Banff holds a special place in my heart. As a little girl, I remember going to Banff with my family every year and it being so magical. As an adult, it was always one of my dreams to go to Banff overnight with hubby. Pursuit made my dream come true.
Pursuit offers inspiring, unforgettable, adventure travel experiences including the Banff Jasper, Glacier Park and Alaska collections. The collection we got to experience was the Banff Jasper collection. For our weekend escape, Pursuit hosted us at the Elk+ Avenue Hotel in Banff. The hotel was in the most ideal location. All the tourist attractions including the Banff Gondola and Hot Springs were a quick 5-10 minute drive away, if not closer. Shops and restaurants were also within walking distance.
ROOM
We were provided a very spacious loft at the Elk + Avenue. The room being two-story made it so cozy. Our room had an amazing view of the mountains and Banff Avenue. The room was very clean and had all the modern-day amenities. Hubby and I look for those amenities when deciding where to stay – it’s our thing. The hotel staff were so sweet – they left us a note with some hot chocolate to enjoy.
LOCATION
As mentioned before, the Elk + Avenue is centrally located right off of Banff Avenue. There is a Good Earth Café adjoining the hotel with ample seating space perfect for people-watching and or relaxing with friends and family. The parking garage was easily accessible on a side street. I just loved the fact that we could park our car and walk along Banff Avenue to explore.
LOBBY + HOT TUB + SAUNA
The Elk+ Avenue has a number of seating areas in and around the lobby. All of these spaces are so modern and minimal yet they have that special charm of nature. These spaces are so perfect to meet with friends, play some games and have a cocktail. We didn’t get the time to use the Hot Tub and Sauna but were glad to see that we had that option.
BANFF GONDOLA
As a part of our weekend escape, Pursuit provided us with complimentary passes to play tourist and ride the famous Banff Gondola to the summit of Sulphur Mountain. Funny story- hubby is born and raised in Calgary so naturally I assumed that he had ridden the Banff Gondola many times. Little did I know it was his first time and he truly was a tourist.
The Banff Gondola is a 10 minute drive from the Elk+ Avenue Hotel. As we already had our tickets, we didn’t have to wait in line. The line to queue up for the Gondola seemed long but it was really very fast. I’m not particularly fond of heights so I was a bit concerned riding the Banff Gondola but it was totally fine and SO WORTH the view. Check out these beautiful vies of the Canadian Rockies.
The Banff Gondola has something for everyone – a walk along the Sulphur Mountain Boardwalk, two amazing restaurants with delicious menus and an interpretive centre for those inquisitive minds. It truly is a must do when visiting Banff National Park. Pricing information can be obtained here.
We really had an amazing weekend getaway. It was everything I thought it would be and more. We thank Pursuit for hosting us and can’t wait to check out the other collections next year.
