When it comes to storage solutions for a toddler playroom, it’s important to keep in mind the age and height of the children who will be using the room. With a toddler and baby, it can be challenging but we have found some found ways to make it work. Here are some ideas:
Low shelves: Toddlers should be able to easily reach the items they want to play with. Low shelves or bookcases are a great option for storing toys, books, and art supplies. We really like the Ikea Kallax Shelf for storage. You can customize with drawers and shelves.
Bins and baskets: Clear plastic bins or woven baskets are a great way to store toys, and they make it easy for children to see what’s inside. Labeling the bins or baskets with pictures or words can also help children learn to clean up after themselves. I purchased several of these from Costco.
Wall storage: Utilizing wall space can help free up floor space for play. Hang storage baskets or shelves on the wall to store smaller items like blocks or craft supplies. We haven’t tried this but I have seen it done and it works great.
Cubbies: Cubbies with hooks can be a great way to store coats, hats, and bags, while also providing a space for kids to display their artwork or special toys. The Kallax model is particularly great for doing this.
Rolling carts: Rolling carts with drawers or baskets can be a great option for storing art supplies, dress-up clothes, or other small items that can be easily moved around the room. We recently purchased on of these from Ikea Raskog and it’s been great.
Keeping a toddler playroom organized and clutter-free can help encourage creativity and make playtime more enjoyable for everyone involved.
