Greek cuisine has been one of my favourites since I was a child. I remember going with my parents to Mr. Greek on Danforth Avenue in Toronto. When we moved to Calgary, it was really hard to find a comparable restaurant. So when we saw Paros Souvla open up in the Royal Oak Complex a few years ago we were ecstatic to try it out. Since our first meal, we’ve been hooked and have been eating at Paros Souvla a few times a month. Let’s get right to it…
Where do I start? All dishes at Paros Souvla are amazing. The have an extensive menu that has all your meats (chicken, pork, beef, lamb), sides (salad, roasted veggies, rice, potatoes) and an array of appetizers including calamari and saganaki. The food at Paros is always fresh and all ingredients except for a few are locally sourced. My favorite thing to order is the chicken souvlaki plate with rice and potatoes. I absolutely love the potatoes and could have just those for my main meal. I’m all about those carbs! The rice is really fluffy with red bell peppers and mushrooms and the pita is cooked to perfection. Another dish I order is the chicken wrap. The pita is stuffed to the brim with tomatoes, onions, tzatziki and fries. Yes, Fries! And not just regular fries – Greek fries. It makes for a really filling and delicious meal. Paros Souvla also offers a selection of wines perfect for date night!
I have nothing but positive things to say about the service at Paros Souvla. I have never waited in line for more than a minute or two when placing my order. My food is prepared fast when I do takeout and when we dine in, it’s brought to our table. I’m a little picky about things I like in my wrap and Louis and Anthony always accommodate me.
Paros Souvla has a great casual and modern dining environment. The place is edgy with its purple booth, yellow chairs and neat floor and wall art. From time to time, I meet a girlfriend for lunch and we’ll stay for hours. The restaurant has a great vibe to it!
If you live in Calgary or are visiting from out of town and have not had Paros Souvla, I highly recommend it. You will not be disappointed. Opa!
